Hi everyone! I trust you've all had a safe and happy easter. In this blog, I'm so happy to share a wonderful article written by my dear friend and doggy foster carer Dalitta Wright. Rescue dogs more than often come with a range of issues from the emotional to the physical. Here in this article, Dalitta shares with us the essential oils she used that made a profound difference to this beautiful bulldog. If you are interested in giving Trigger a forever home, please contact Mini's Bulldog Rescue Club by clicking HERE If you would like to share your therapy experience, please do message me at m.me/animalhealingpractitioner "We recently discovered the world of dog fostering – doing our bit to improve the health and well-being of, and re-socialise and share loads of love with bulldogs that have had some life experience that has landed them in the pound. The dogs we have had experience with have been amazing and have responded so well to good raw food, loads of love and a few family boundaries.
Our most recent pound puppy (almost 40kg of him) is Trigger. Trigger came to us from Central Queensland. Being a white American Bulldog, he had extensive sun damage and unfortunately very severe and chronic infections of his ears and head area. Amazingly his body was generally unscathed. From the moment we picked Trigger up from the Melbourne Airport, I used therapeutic grade essential oils on him. Lavender is the go-to oil with all my animals (and humans). It can assist with so many things and I don’t have the space to mention them all. The most important one when fostering dogs is it’s calming and relaxing capabilities. With the assistance of antibiotics from the Vets, we managed to get the infection under control. The after effects of the infection and sun damage is very bad scarring. One day soon Trigger will be heading to his forever home. After a little bit of work, we can guarantee he is an absolute gentleman and will be the perfect companion for pretty much anyone who wants the love of a large loving dog. But he was battle-scarred and in this world of image we wanted to see if essential oils would help to reduce the scarring in his ears and across his head. The mixture I trialled on Trigger’s scarring is lavender, helichrysum and frankincense mixed in a fractionated coconut oil base. Lavender, known for its’ calming, relaxing and balancing tendencies – both emotionally and physically – is a natural antiseptic and can assist to reduce any remaining inflammation and fungus. Helichrysum is an anaesthetic and antiviral and may assist nerve regeneration. It is commonly used to manage skin conditions including eczema and scar tissue. Frankincense, used to treat every known ailment to mankind in ancient times can be used to assist treatment of depression, cancer, respiratory infections, inflammation and stimulates immunity. The pictures below were taken 18 days apart – I am by no means consistent when it comes to rubbing the oil on – sometimes I do it twice a day and sometimes it may be a couple of days between applications. Also are the before and after photo's of Trigger when he first came into Dalitta's care. I am very happy with the results so far and I have been using essential oils on my family and animals for more than ten years. Essential oils never cease to amaze me! Dalitta Wright
